First off, Lovely Crush is not a stupid pointless banal sliding block image puzzle game like all of that other quote-unquote "hentai" dreck on Nintendo Switch. It's more like a match 3 game, but it isn't match 3. If there are two or more of the same color cat blocks touching in the field, you can select one of them which causes them to disappear and more blocks to fall from the top to fill in the gaps.
That's pretty straightforward, but the twist in this game is that each stage has different requirements to beat it. Each stage will have a set number of specific pieces you have to clear, but some stages only give you a limited amount of total moves or a set time limit to get it all done. New pieces such as balloons, stone, or ice that are more difficult to clear get added as you progress through the game, too, and some of the levels are surprisingly tricky and strategic to beat. It's genuinely a lot more fun than most of these lewd Switch games tend to be.
Each level features one of five animated catgirls looking cute off to the side, but the real appeal of this experience is the 30 other pieces of catgirl art you can unlock as you play. It's all probably A.I., but I can't say for sure and it does all look pretty good compared to the really obviously terrible AI crap that has flooded the market lately, so I'm fine with it either way. The catgirls are great looking and that's what we're here for.
Lovely Crush offers genuinely fun and clever gameplay and looks pretty nice overall, so for $5 I think it's worth playing. I like seeing these lewd Switch games starting to turn away from just cranking out more putrid sliding block puzzle nonsense, so let's try to support games like this that do something different when we can. Definitely give it a try.
