The gameplay is typical dating sim fare but with a giant monster twist. You take your chosen partner out on dates at landmarks and monuments around the world and proceed to destroy those monuments and landmarks depending on how well the date goes. Destruction is a good thing here, by the way.
Each date consists of answering multiple choice questions with the answer best suited to your chosen partner. It's mostly just using logic based on what type of monster they are, really. The questions are all really simple and shallow and are things like what temperature or environment they prefer and that sort of thing. It's less "dating" and more a science test, but it's still pretty entertaining. And when the monsters kiss after a successful date it's kind of sweet and awesome.
Each of the six campaigns end the same way with a giant robot sent by the government to cock block your romance and you have to overcome it's interference to prove that true love always finds a way.
All in all, I really liked Kaichu. It's cute and charming and sweet and watching giant monsters make out is kind of awesome. It's available on all platforms and is worth a look for kaiju fans. Check out our video on the game below.
