Why is it amazing? Because it's made by Clap Hanz, the makers of Hot Shots Golf / Everybody's Golf for PlayStation, that's why! These folks know how to make a fun, charming, accessible game of arcade-style video game golf, and Easy Come, Easy Golf is just as good as their previous efforts. I mean, just looking at the character models you can tell this is Hot Shots in all but name, and the three click swing system is back - though a little different in execution - and works just as well.
There are a couple of hiccups, but nothing too major. First is that the game doesn't look very impressive, as it was originally a mobile game that is now on Switch. It looks fine, but not ever spectacular. That's OK, though, because the golf is excellent.
A bigger problem is that the main single-player mode is incredibly dumb - you have to make a team of golfers and every hole is played by a different character. Why? Why? Why oh why did they do something so awful! You have to unlock all of the characters, too, so you start out with crap nobodies you don't want to play with. I suppose it's sort of interesting in that every character has different stats / abilities so you have to learn to adapt to a lot of different playstyles in the course of a single round, but it isn't what I want from a golf game.
Thankfully, the game does offer more normal modes where you can just use any single character you want. The only downside is that there isn't any character progression in these modes, but it's fine because, again, the golf itself is great. A nice touch is that all of the characters / courses are unlocked from the start in these modes, so you can jump straight into multiplayer or solo play and do whatever you want, which I love.
Anyway, Easy Come, Easy Golf has the dumbest name possible, but it's a great game of golf. Even better - it's only $20, so there's no reason not to give it a try. It's the best golf game on Nintendo Switch by far.
